Islami Bank signed MOU with Grameen Shakti for installation of Bio-Gas plants in the rural areas on December 30, 2012 at board room of Islami Bank Tower. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of Islami Bank and Abser Kamal, Acting Managing Director of Grameen Shakti signed this agreement on their behalf. The function was addressed by Syed Abdullah Mohammed Saleh, Deputy Managing Director, Asheque Ahmad Jebal, Executive Vice President of the Bank and Bikas Kumar Das, Head of Accounts, Grameen Shakti. The function was attended among others by Mohd. Shamsul Haque, Md. Habuibur Rahman, Engr. Md. Abul Bashar, Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, FCA, A.K.M. Abdul Malek Chowdhury including top executives and officers of Islami Bank and Grameen Shakti.
Mohammad Abdul Mannan said that Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited is dealing 50% of global Islamic micro finance through its Rural Development Scheme commencing in 1995. Islami Bank is trying to remove the inequality between rich and poor through equal distribution of wealth. He said the living standard of people will be upgraded through installation of bio-gas plant set up by Islami Bank and Grameen Shakti.
Mr. Abser Kamal, Acting Managing Director of Grmeen Shakti thanked Isalmi Bank for joining this venture to upgrade the living standard of rural people.
