The total deposit of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited has reached at Tk.32,830 crore as on 31 August 2011 increasing Tk.5,496 crore against the same period of last year showing the growth rate of 20%. The total investment reaches at Tk.32,349 crore increasing Tk.5,518 crore showing the growth rate of 21%. The Bank handled foreign exchange business amounting Tk.47,768 crore upto 31 August, 2011 increasing Tk.9,460 crore against the same period of last year including import of Tk.19,249 crore, export of Tk.12,774 crore and remittance of Tk.15,746 crore increasing Tk.4,260 crore in import, Tk.3,500 crore in export and Tk.1,699 crore in remittance against the same period of the last year. The growth rate of foreign exchange business is 25% against the same period of last year.

The information was disclosed in a performance review meeting of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited on September 4, 2011 at Board Room of Islami Bank Tower. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of the Bank, presided over the program which was attended among others by Mohd. Shamsul Haque, Md. Habibur Rahman, Md. Setaur Rahman, Md. Nurul Islam, Md. Abul Bashar, SAM Saleh and Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, FCA Deputy Managing Directors along with top executives of the Head Office and Heads of Dhaka Zones.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan, in his presidential speech said that Islami Bank conducts banking activities with transparency and accountability. For this reason the Bank has been able to obtain faith and love of the people of the country. He said that we have to continue the speed of progress of the bank by working with team spirit and making proactive workers. He urged all to develop the standard of service of the Bank.

He said that we have to develop more skilled manpower working in every sector of the Bank by securing higher standard. We should be more attentive to acquire knowledge of modern technology. He called upon all to carry the benefit of Islamic Banking to common people irrespective of rural or urban settings.
