Jessore Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited was awarded ‘Certificate of Acknowledgement for Grand Success’ in highest disbursement of Agriculture Investment in Jessore area. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank handed over the certificate and crest to Md. Shafiul Azam, Vice President and Manager of Jessore Branch at the Deputy Commissioner Office recently. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner and Kamrul Ahsan, Police Super of Jessore were present on the occasion.
Islami Bank invested Tk. 1,170 crore among three lac fifty thousand clients of Agriculture and Agro-based industry for the development of crops, fisheries, and livestock in 2011-12 fiscal year which is 9% of total investment of the country in this sector and highest in private banking industry.
Islami Bank invested Tk. 44 crore 43 lac among 17,308 farmers through 5 branches of Jessore area. The rate of recovery against the investment was 100%.
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited launced its Rural Development Scheme in 1995 to cater to the investment needs of the agriculture and rural sector of the country with a view to eradicating poverty. From then farmers can open account with Tk. 10 only. The Scheme expanded its operations in 15,000 villages of the country. The member of this project is 7 lac. The amount of investment through this Scheme stood at Tk. 5,000 crore. Rate of recovery against the investment is 99%. Besides the investmet activities members have been provided 10 thousnad Tube-wells and 5 thousand sanitary latrines on Quard-e-Hasana (profit-free investment.
