Mufti Shamsuddin Zia

Mufti Shamsuddin Zia is a distinguished Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, Muhaddith and Mufti, currently serving as Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of. He is widely respected for his profound scholarship in Hadith, Fiqh and Islamic jurisprudence, with over four decades of teaching and Shariah advisory experience.

He completed his Dawrah-e-Hadith with First Class First Position from Al-Jamia Al-Islamia Patiya and obtained an advanced degree in Islamic Law and Research, specializing in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, also securing First Class First Position. He further pursued higher studies in Logic, Philosophy and Dialectics with outstanding academic distinction.

Mufti Zia currently serves as Shaikhul Hadith and Chief Mufti of Al-Jamia Al-Islamia Patiya, Chattogram. Over his long academic career, he has taught major classical texts of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum and has been actively engaged in teaching Hadith, Islamic law, Islamic economics and Arabic. He regularly delivers lectures and conducts training sessions on Islamic economics and Shari`ah compliance for banks, financial institutions and other organizations.

He has extensive experience in Shariah governance within the financial sector, having served for many years on the Shariah Supervisory Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC and other several Islamic banks and insurance companies in Bangladesh. He has also held important academic and administrative positions in national educational and fatwa boards.

Mufti Shamsuddin Zia has participated in international seminars and conferences on Islamic law and economics in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, and continues to contribute to the development of Islamic scholarship and Shari`ah-compliant finance in Bangladesh.
