Dr. Zubair Mohammad Ehsanul Hoque, CSAA is Professor & former Chairman, Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka. 

Dr. Hoque has completed his PhD in “Perso-Arabic Elements in Chittagonian Bangla: A Linguistic Analysis” from University of Dhaka in 2010. Earlier, he completed BA (Hons) and MA from Arabic Department of Dhaka University respectively in 1996 and 1997. He also achieved CSAA (Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor) fellowship under AAOIFI, Bahrain.

 Dr. Zubair has a long experience of teaching in the University of Dhaka for 21 years. He joined as lecturer at the Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka in 2003. Currently, he is the Chairman of the same department. He has been teaching Arabic Language Skills (Reading & Writing), Modern Arabic Poetry, Arabic Short Story, Research Methodology and Economic System of Islam.  

Before joining at the University, Dr. Zubair has served at Bangladesh Civil Service as District Information Officer (Information Cadre, 20th BCS cadre) from 2001 to 2003.

He has a keen interest in Problems of Arabic Language teaching in Bangladesh as a second language, Influence of Arabic Language on Bengali dialects, Ancient and Medieval Indo-Arab Relations, Travel literature, Islamic Jurisprudence of calamity (Fiqh al-Nawazil), and Fiqh al-Muamalat. He has successfully Supervised a PhD researcher and four MPhil researchers. Currently he is supervising 1 (one) PhD & 7 (Seven) MPhil researchers. He was a member of External Peer Review Team for Al-Quran and Islamic Studies Department, Islamic University, Kustia, Bangladesh. 

Professionally he has received Bangladesh Civil Service Information Cadre foundation training, a four-month training course for District Information Officers and first-class officials of the Ministry of Information, Government of Bangladesh.

Dr. Zubair is member, Shariah Supervisory Committee of Union Bank PLC, South-Bangla Agriculture & Commerce Bank PLC, Agrani Bank PLC, Bangladesh Finance PLC, DBH PLC and Board member, Centre for Zakat Management (CZM). Furthermore he is a member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh from 2011 and Bangladesh Linguistics Society from 2008.

He is also a renounced author. Some of his important books are ‘Adhunik Arobi Kabya Shahitya: Kobi Charit O Kabya Manjusha’, ‘Bangladesher Krishij Utpadone Ushr and Kharaj (Ushr and Kharaj in Agricultural Production of Bangladesh)’, ‘Adhunik Arobi Chotogolpo: Ekti Divashik Path’, ‘Jakater Bidhibidhan (Provisions of Zakat)’.

His many research articles have been published in many National and International Journals.
