Professor Dr. Zubair Mohammad Ehsanul Hoque, CSAA, Member, Shari`ah Supervisory Council, IBBPLC is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka. He earned his Ph.D. in “Perso-Arabic Elements in Chittagonian Bangla: A Linguistic Analysis” from the University of Dhaka in 2010. He completed both his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in Arabic from the same institution in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Dr. Hoque is also a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI, Bahrain.

Dr. Hoque joined the University of Dhaka as a lecturer in 2003 and has been actively teaching for over two decades. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Arabic, where he teaches Arabic language skills, modern Arabic poetry, Arabic short stories, Islamic economics, and research methodology. Prior to his university career, he served in the Bangladesh Civil Service as a District Information Officer under the Information Cadre (20th BCS).

His research interests include Arabic language pedagogy in Bangladesh, linguistic influence of Arabic on Bengali dialects, Indo-Arab relations, travel literature, Islamic commercial jurisprudence (Fiqh al-Muamalat), and jurisprudence of calamity (Fiqh al-Nawazil). He has successfully supervised Ph.D. and MPhil researchers and served as an external reviewer for academic programs.

Dr. Hoque is a member of the Shari’ah Supervisory Committees of Union Bank PLC, South Bangla Agriculture & Commerce Bank PLC, Agrani Bank PLC, Bangladesh Finance PLC, and DBH PLC. He also serves on the Board of the Centre for Zakat Management (CZM) and is affiliated with the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Linguistics Society.

A prolific author, his notable works include Adhunik Arobi Kabya Shahitya, Bangladesher Krishi Utpadone Ushr O Kharaj, Adhunik Arobi Chotogolpo, and Jakater Bidhibidhan. His research articles have been widely published in national and international journals.
